Jason Johanning created J2 Media Consulting as a resource for content companies seeking profitable distribution of their products and services. J2 connects content creators with key decision-makers, builds productive relationships, and assists clients in achieving their business goals.
Jason is an accomplished media executive with a track record of strategic and tactical leadership in the digital video distribution industry. With more than 20 years of experience in media, he has spent time on both the content and operator side of the business while working in both large corporate structures and small start up shops. His strategic insight, keen eye for detail, and collaborative skills make him an exceptional partner for all aspects of the distribution process.
While holding senior executive positions with NBCUniversal, Starz Entertainment and Disney & ESPN Media Networks, Mr. Johanning drove incremental revenue and subscriber growth through successful contract negotiation, new product launches and strategic marketing initiatives. He has developed strong relationships with digital video distributors including, among others, Roku, Netflix, Hulu, Redbox, Comcast, Sling TV, Spectrum, Vizio, Samsung, LG, Amazon, Pluto TV, YouTube TV, Plex, Xumo, Wurl, DistroTV, SimulTV, Zone and Video Elephant.
Jason also led several strategic network task forces and worked cross-functionally with various groups to launch new products and services. At Comcast, he held several leadership positions spanning varied sales channels across a number of products including video, broadband and telephony. Jason designed and implemented commission structures, formulated sales strategy and provided sales leadership throughout the organization.
Mr. Johanning earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing, from Colorado State University. He also completed several prestigious industry programs, including the Cable Executive Management Program (CTAMU) at Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation.
Before joining the telecommunications industry, Jason worked in both sales and fan development in professional sports. He lives in Denver, Colorado, with his two daughters, Annie and Katie.
